Iran: US Ban Has No Effect on Petrol Imports
06/30/2008

Hojjatollah Ghanimifard

Iran says a US Congress resolution banning petrol sale to the Islamic Republic will have no influence on the country.

Iran supplies its petrol through non-American markets and firms, which are not listed on the US stock market, said Director of International Affairs at the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), Hojjatollah Ghanimifard. “Therefore, the laws ratified inside the US will have only domestic effect… And will not influence Iran's imported petrol,” said the official, downplaying US threats.

Iran's new oil refineries, currently under construction, are expected to hike daily output of refines petrol by 10 million liters per day [2.5 gallons].
