Hotel Business in Palestinian Territories

The Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics issued a report on the hotel business in the Palestinian territories during the second quarter of 2010.

According to the survey, there were 94 hotels operating in the Palestinian territories, with 4,800 rooms and 10,118 beds, including 29 hotels in East Jerusalem with 1,452 rooms. The average number of workers in the Palestinian hotels was 1,707 divided between 1,457 males and 250 females.

During the quarter, the number of guests in the Palestinian hotels was 140,009, of which 9.6% were Palestinians and 41.7 % were from countries in the European Union. [The report does not account for the nationality of the remaining 50% of the guests]. The survey shows that 46% of the guests used hotels in East Jerusalem. The hotel guests spent 318,371 nights in Palestinian hotels, an increase of 32.7% over the same quarter in 2009 and 11.8% over the first quarter of this year.
