A shortage of high-octane gasoline type 95 in some regions in the Kingdom may develop into a crisis if suppliers do not quickly inject enough of it to the gas stations, especially in the Riyadh (capital) region.
According to sources, the shortage in the supply of gasoline type 95 has resulted from the smuggling of large quantities of this fuel type to other countries.
[Editor's comment: The low price of gasoline in Saudi Arabia makes it an attractive target for smuggling by well-connected individuals who, in the past, used big oil tankers to ship the gasoline to Asian buyers.]
